The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of the sale of application documents for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, and published on the Board’s official X handle on Tuesday.
According to JAMB, the application is open to suitably qualified candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the 2026/27 academic session.
Age Requirement and Eligibility Conditions
JAMB restated that eligibility for admission is tied to age. Only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are generally eligible to apply.
However, the Board disclosed that provisions exist for underage candidates, subject to strict conditions. Candidates who will be below 16 years by the stipulated date must undergo an intensive evaluation to determine their eligibility for a waiver.
“Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2026/27 academic session.
“Only candidates who will not be less than 16 years old by 30th September, 2026 are generally eligible to apply/be considered.”
Conditions for Underage Candidates
JAMB explained that underage candidates must score not less than 80 percent in each of the UTME or A-Level, Post-UTME, Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), and the exceptional candidate assessment.
The Board added that the UTME results of underage candidates will only be released after the completion of the evaluation process.

Warning Against Multiple Registrations
JAMB cautioned candidates against multiple registrations, stressing that candidates are not allowed to register more than once.
The Board advised candidates who encounter errors during registration to seek corrections directly through JAMB rather than purchasing a new application form, warning that duplication violates registration rules and may attract sanctions.
“Candidates are not permitted to register more than once; in the event of any errors during registration process, candidates are to seek correction from the board and not obtain a fresh application as duplication of applications violates all the applications,” the Board stated.
