The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship  2026 Applications open on 17 March!

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship (MRF) programme is built on our founding principles of reconciliation, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership and a belief that leadership begins with inner transformation. 

The program is for young leaders who aspire to the principles below and who have demonstrated the potential to live them out.

Available Programmes for Mandela Rhodes Scholarship:

All accredited programs at any South African university can be run alongside the Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship.

Note: All South African universities are eligible for the MRF Scholarship 2026.

Mandela Rhodes Scholarship Requirement:

To be eligible for the postgraduate Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Age: Between 19 and 29 years old
  • Nationality: Citizen of any African country
  • Academic Qualification: First degree with above-average academic results (70% or upper second)
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership and impact on campus or in the community

Document Requirements for Mandela Rhodes Scholarship:

While applying for the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship 2026, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • Recommendation Letters
  • Documentation: Degree certificates, academic transcripts, ID, and passport scans
  • Essays: Personal journey and a specific question related to the scholarship’s principles
  • Application for university admission
  • South African Qualification Agency Certificate (for non-South African applicants)
