After receiving their NYSC call-up letters, Nigerian graduates are required to report to their assigned orientation camps for a 3-week training program. This camp serves as an introduction to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, where corps members undergo physical drills, leadership training, and skill acquisition programs. They also participate in cultural activities, sports, and community development sessions.
At the end of the 3-week orientation, corps members receive their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), where they will serve for the next 11 months. Upon completion of the orientation camp, each corps member is paid an allowance of ₦77,000 (covering transport, camp allowance, and other expenses).
