AI for Science Master Scholarships Details:
Google is offering fully funded scholarship opportunities through its Deepmind program at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences to interested candidates.
Applications for the 2025 AIMS Google DeepMind Scholarships are open to students from across Africa who are passionate about mathematics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
The AI for Science Master’s program is a stream in AIMS South Africa‘s Master’s degree in Mathematical Science, made possible through a partnership with Google DeepMind
Google and AIMS are looking for students who gaze at the stars and the world around them in wonder, and who want to use their talents to accelerate scientific discovery to award these scholarships.
AI for Science Master Scholarships Requirement:
To be considered for the Google Deepmind AI Scholarship, you must:
- be a resident in Africa at time of application
- be a citizen of any country in Africa
- have completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year undergraduate degree with an honors year by August 2025 (or December 2025 for southern African applicants.
- not have held a previous scholarship to study at an AIMS center.
Your undergraduate degree could be in physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or any other discipline with a strong computational and mathematical component.
Document Requirment for AI for Science Master Scholarships:
To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;
- Application Form
- Your curriculum vitae
- A motivation letter of around 500 words
- Academic transcripts
- Written mathematics questions (to be found on the application site)
- Coding problem (to be found on the application site)
AI for Science Master Scholarships Rewards:
Each Google DeepMind Scholar becomes part of a community of future AI professionals. The Scholars will receive:
- A scholarship to fully fund their postgraduate degree at a partner university (up to two years)
- Stipend to cover housing and living costs
- Stipend for travel and relocation costs to attend the partner university
- Access to AI-related academic conferences and Google DeepMind events
- Insights and guidance from a mentor at Google DeepMind

To apply for the 2025 Google Deepmind AI for Science Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should;

- The online application includes a dozen short mathematics questions and one coding problem. It’s not an exam, but the questions give the selection panel some insight into how you approach problems.
- The final round consists of short online interviews in May 2025.
