Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved a monthly allowance of ₦20,000 for all National Youth Service Corps members from Akwa Ibom who are serving across Nigeria.

This decision follows a recent increase in the allowance for corps members serving within the state, which was raised from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000, effective August 1, 2025.

A statement released from the Government House in Uyo on Tuesday indicated that this new policy was one of the key resolutions made during the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday.

The governor stated that this decision is part of his administration’s Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative, aimed at alleviating the cost of living and enhancing the welfare of corps members.

“This decision aligns with the Renewed Hope, ARISE Youth Support Initiative. It is intended to cushion living expenses and promote the well-being of corps members

The Committee, which was given 30 days to submit its report, was further mandated to design and propose a “sustainable and efficient management framework for the Ibom Hotels and Apartments brand across Nigeria, including the establishment of a functional and well-composed Board to oversee its operations.”

Last week, Governor Eno approved an increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state from N5,000 to ₦20,000 with effect from August 1, 2025.

Governor Eno stated that the increment was to support the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly allowance, helping Corps members meet their basic needs.

“Over 10,000 corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually. We must continue to encourage and support them,” the Governor said.
