NCDMB Essay Contest Details:
The NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition is sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The aim is to promote academic excellence and Nigerian Content to encourage the youths to build local capacities and competencies to prepare for effective participation in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry.
NCDMB Essay Contest for Undergraduate Students Rules
The following are the rules and submission requirements for the essay contest;
- The NCDMB Essay contest is open only to 100-200 level students in public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria-Universities. Polytechnics and Colleges of Education
- All entrants must submit either a letter of admission or a signed letter of attestation from his/her Head of Department (HOD).
- All essays must be original works specifically written for the competition
- Co-authorship of essay is not permitted.
- Entrants are to submit only one entry
- Manuscripts must not exceed 1,500 words.
- Current contact information of each entrant including phone number and email address must accompany the manuscripts
- Entrants’ names shall not appear on the manuscript but to be on a separate title page
- Hard copy submission will not be accepted.
2025 NCDMB Essay Competition Topic:
Topic of the 2025 essay completion is, ‘Sustaining Local Content Policies In The Transitioning Oil And Gas Industry’.
NCDMB Essay Contest Rewards & Timeline:
Winners of the 2025 NCDMB Essay Contest shall receive;
- ₦1,000,000 for 1st prize,
- ₦700,000 for 2nd prize,
- ₦500,000 for 3rd prize.
- All top 10 national finalists shall each receive a laptop

How to Apply for NCDMB Essay Contest
To apply for the 2025 Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Essay Contest for Undergraduate Students, interested and qualified candidates should;

- If you’re using a mobile device, first open the menu on the application page, then select SUBMIT ESSAY. The form to submit your essay will open.
- Carefully Study the form. Fill all the given inputs;

- Department/Faculty
- Level.
- Copy your essay from whatever place you have written it and paste it inside the essay Content input box.
- Attach and upload a picture format of your admission letter the recommended size. Incase the size is bigger than the recommended size, a link to help you reduce it is given.
