UNILAG Postgraduate Admission Requirements
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) offers a diverse range of postgraduate programs, each with specific admission requirements. To apply for the UNILAG postgraduate form for the 2025/2026 academic session, candidates must meet certain criteria. Below is an overview of the general requirements for various postgraduate categories:
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Alternatively, a Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualifications are recognized by the UNILAG Senate.
- Completion of the NYSC program or possession of an exemption certificate.
- Successful completion of any oral or written assessments as required by the specific department.
Academic Master’s Degree (LL.M, M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc.)
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized university.
- Completion of the NYSC program or possession of an exemption certificate.
- Successful completion of any oral or written assessments as required by the specific department.
Academic Master’s Degree (LL.M, M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc.)
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
- Submission of a research proposal outlining the intended area of study.
- Successful completion of any oral or written assessments as required by the specific department.
Professional Master’s Degree (EMBA, MBA, MPH, MPA, MEM, and others)
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division.

Application Period
- Form sales begin on Monday, 3 March 2025.
- Form sales end on Friday, 1 August 2025.
- Form submission closes on Friday, 8 August 2025.
UNILAG Postgraduate Admission Application Fees
- ₦40,000.
How to Apply for UNILAG Postgraduate Admission Form
- Go to the UNILAG postgraduate portal.
- Click on the “APPLY” button.
- Check if you qualify by using the View Programmes’ Entry Requirement section.
- Click “Start a Fresh Application”.
- Choose “Postgraduate” as the application type.
- Fill the pre-application form and print the payment slip.
- Pay ₦40,000 using one of the two ways:
- At a bank with the Remita RRR code
- Online through the PayNow link with your debit card
- Go back to the portal and click “Continue Application”.
- Log in with the payment reference number and surname in lowercase as password.
- Fill the form and upload a passport photo (JPEG, white background, 275×314 pixels, max 15KB).
- Click “SUBMIT FORM” if all is correct.
- Do not submit until the form is complete. Changes after submission cost extra.
What You Should Know
You cannot apply if:
- You are waiting for first degree results.
- You are already a postgraduate student.
- You have not completed the NYSC.
- You got your degree from an outreach or satellite campus.
