Ogun State, located in the southwestern part of Nigeria, has the highest number of universities in the country. It is also known for producing many prominent individuals in Nigeria, such as Prof. Wole Soyinka, President Obasanjo, and Ramson Kuti.

Ogun State shares borders with Lagos State to the south, Oyo State to the north, Ondo State to the east, and the Republic of Benin to the west, with the capital being Abeokuta.

A total of seventeen (21) universities are located in Ogun State, of which one (1) belong to the federal government, three (3) belong to the state government and seventeen (17) are privately owned.

Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNNAB)

Established on January 1, 1988, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) was created through the demerger of four universities of technology by the Nigerian Federal Government. FUNAAB was created to focus on agricultural education and research. Funaab have 10 departments, including agricultural, engineering, environmental, sciences, and entrepreneur studies.

Olabisi Onabanjo University  (OOU)

Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) was established in 1982 as Ogun State University. It was renamed in 2001 in honor of the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, a former governor of Ogun State. OOU  offers over 80 undergraduate degree programs, and you can find multiple courses that align with your dream career. Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) was established in 2005 by Ogun State Government, focusing on teacher education and training students.

Covenant University

Covenant University was founded on 21 October 2002 by David Oyedepo, the presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide. The university has risen into one of the good private universities in Nigeria. The Covenant University tuition fee ranges from N1.2 million to N2.3 million.
